You Don't Have To Make Things Happen Alone (Actually It's Better If You Don't)
You have a lot of decisions to make.
Running a business, making things happen online, bringing big crazy ideas to life - it all takes so much decision making along the way. And it’s scary, and tough, and overwhelming, and if we stay too much inside our own heads we can start to feel super, super, alone.
And this means so much to you.
It’s more than just a paycheque for you and I. This means something to us. It’s financial freedom, creative fulfilment, and the opportunity to do the work that we feel called to do. But when it means this much, all of those decisions and all of those strategic steps forward that we have to take are even scarier, and it’s enough to hold us back from making things happen in the first place.
Do you want to know a secret? Nobody is doing this alone, so stop telling yourself you have to.
You know that phrase, behind every great man there’s a great woman? Well behind every great freelancer, creative, and entrepreneur is the people who support, encourage, and inspire them along the way. Nobody is doing this alone. Even if we’re a one-woman-band running the show ourselves, there’s still a support system and a network behind the scenes who we can turn to whenever we need them.
I used to believe that I had to do this alone. That to lean on others would be a sign of weakness, and that everyone I respect and admire must be doing this solo so why shouldn’t I? But then I figured it out - none of us are doing this alone. We have families, friends, partners-in-crime, online communities, coaches, consultants, and even teams behind us helping us bridge the gap between where we are now and where we want to be.
Who you surround yourself with matters.
We need people who believe in us, who see the world as big as we do, who will push us to do even braver and bolder things along the way. Who you surround yourself with matters. The networks you build, the friendships you invest in, the people you trust with your wildest dreams and your darkest fears - they matter.
You’re not alone in this. There are movers, makers, and doers just like you out there who will be your biggest cheerleaders along the way, and there are people in your life already who are just waiting to be of service to you.
It’s okay to ask for help.
If you’re feeling alone right now, if this journey of making things happen is starting to take its toll, it’s okay to ask for help. I couldn’t do what I do every single day without my awesome support network around me. To be a game changer we have to know at the end of the day that we can deliver and create and bring to life exactly what it is we set out to do. But that doesn’t mean we can’t ask for help along the way. And if you feel like you don’t have anybody to turn to? Reach out and make connections. Find people in your online or offline network who you can grab coffee dates with, tell your closest friends, family, or your better half that you need their support right now, or maybe even invest in a coach, consultant, or virtual assistant to help you make things happen along the way.
Whatever you do, don’t just stay in that place where you feel alone. You can do this by yourself, I know you can, but I also know that this journey is way more fulfilling when we have people to share it with along the way.
If you could have help, guidance, and support with one thing this week, what would it be?
